Link3859 on "Adding an HTML image with hyperlinks- image not showing."

Hello, I am attempting to create a page with an image that I have just created using Dreamweaver's HTML blank sheet. I had inserted the image into Dreamweaver, added hyper-linked areas to the image, and tried adding the code to my page with so-so results. The image appears as a blank rectangle; however, after hovering over the box with my curser, it seems the hyper-linked areas are there. I am not very familiar with code, more-so the image and design aspect of Adobe's Design Suite. My best guess is that I am not creating the appropriate path for the image, but am confused to say the least for the moment. Help, please..
