For some reason there's a HTML entity just after the <body> tag [screenshot]. Where did you get that theme from? Have you tried deactivating plugins to explore whether any could be responsible?

Seems like it's only happening on pages where there is a Google Plus link on top. I would start searching around this plus.google.com link. Can't tell you more without source.

So you just wan the menu to be wider? Like the whole lenght of the theme so it takes up the space where the search form was? If so then just delete the search form and then add this css to your styles...
